MADI is involving Children in Media

December 2, 2012 by ftita

MADI is involving Children in media through a local Radio Station in Kumi; Continental FM.The children are empowered to speak out for their rights and to advocate for issues affecting their communities, especially in the area of Environment conservation, and HIV/AIDS. The radio covers Eastern Uganda, with a listnership of more than 70,000 people, and the children are live every saturday for 2 hours, from 9:00 – 11 AM. This is surely a great way to reachout communicative messages accross the community, for development.

It was such an inspiration to have the MADI President; Funwi Tita visit the studio yesterday to see and hear for himself the children talking live about Environment and advising the listeners to be very concerned to protect the environment. In his own words, Funwi testified, “This is a very good program for the empowerment of the children to build their confidence and to make them agents of change”

Tita also addressed the listeners and helped to re-emphasise the goals of MADI and its mission of “Changing the World One person at a Time”.

Thank you Funwi for helping us to mentor these children

THANK YOU MONTICELLO MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!!

October 17, 2012 by ftita

Yesterday October 16th 2012, the Monticello Middle School completed their second annual shoe and clothes drive to benefit the poor children in Africa. Thousands of pairs of shoes and clothes came pouring through the doors of the middle school as students, excited and enthusiastic, came to school loaded with bags of clothes and shoes to support MADI for its work of helping poor kids in Africa. In addition to bringing in the donations, the students spent time sorting and packing the shoes and clothes. Being there during this activity and witnessing firsthand how excited the students were really humbled me. I said to myself, “I wish adults could be as selfless as these children.” The world would be a better place if we could all act and think like they do doing small things with big differences. THANK YOU BRAVE STUDENTS OF MONTICELLO MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

Special thanks to the teachers and administration of the Monticello Middle School for their effort in promoting and coordinating the donation drive. Also want to thank the parents and community members for being supportive to the kids during this event. We also appreciate the financial contribution to help with the shipping cost of the donations to Africa. We look forward to growing our relationship with the school improving on aspects and opening avenues of learning and experience for the students. MADI is truly grateful for this opportunity.

Monticello Middle School up for a record breaking 4000 pairs of shoes Collected

October 3, 2012 by ftita

Beginning today October 2, 2012 through the 16th, the Monticello Middle School will enter their second season of the Making a Difference Initiative by collecting 4000 pairs of shoes to help the impoverished children of Uganda Africa. Last year, the school collected over 10,000 items and this year they have focused their efforts to accomplishing the ambitious goal of collecting 4,000 pairs of shoes. The current record is held by St. Michael Albertville (STMA) Middle School West of 3140 pairs of shoes collected.

Shoes make a difference in the lives of kids who survive on horrible terrains barefoot. The boys and girls of Monticello middle school are learning to be global citizens as and they believe that little gestures bring about big changes especially when it is comes to saving lives and promoting its quality. Shoes do exactly that in the lives of the boys and girls living in the poor villages of Sub-Saharan Africa. The students of Monticello M.S are proud to make a difference in the lives of their peers in the remotes corners of the world.

We urge more schools to get involved in this great tool of both teaching our children to become responsible global citizens and empowering them to make a difference in the world. Children can learn to appreciate their abundance and learn how to use what may otherwise be put to waste, to change someone’s life with. By engaging young men and women in these kinds of community service activities early in life, we teach them to embrace the attitude of shared sacrifice to make the world a better place while exposing them to different aspects of different cultures other than theirs – gently grooming their curiosty to learn and grow.

Mission Teams

September 11, 2012 by ftita

MADI has launched a new program of taking teams of volunteers to Uganda and other countries in Africa they work in. MADI plans to take over six teams of volunteers to Uganda over the course of the next one year. The organization plans to continue this program and expand it in the future. Participants will have the opportunity to volunteer as well as embark on sightseeing/safari trips in a well-crafted program called “Voluntourism”. With voluntourism, volunteers will have the opportunity to help with projects including building, painting, running children’s programs, working with street children, conduct health screenings at local clinics and villages, shoe and clothes distribution, youth camps, and much more. Participants may be teams for churches, schools, groups of students, young professionals, and groups including all people of all ages.
MADI “Voluntourism” program is something different and a great way to spend a summer helping others. Why not do something worthwhile like going on one of our mission teams and actually make a difference in someone’s life?

With the help of Chair Lady Ms. Dorothy and Coordinator Mr. Joseph of CHEHRI Kumi, MADI is able to reach out to the poor inhabitants of Olilim village to distribute clothing and other items.
