We do not believe in changing the world in one day. But we do believe that as citizens of this great planet earth, we have a duty to care for the needy and the afflicted in whichever way we can. Our objective is to:
It Starts With Shoes…The first item that the charity Making A Difference International Inc. (MADI) provides a poor child with is shoes.
In many poor countries, children don’t wear shoes. Their parents can’t afford them, so they go barefoot. Many poor people die from untreated infections they acquire from a cut or bite to the foot, from walking barefoot.
You can donate shoes for people who have none. You also can support MADI in other ways.
In America, especially, many of us take shoes for granted. In many parts of the world, including Uganda and other African countries, shoes are a rarity for people to the point that some never have a new pair of shoes in their lives.
Shoes protect the feet and a person’s health, essentially. Research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that there are many hazards associated with going barefoot, especially when walking in contaminated soil or water.
One of the most deadly is hookworm disease that can lead to parasitic infections in barefoot individuals. If left untreated, these parasites can result in internal poisons, the loss of limbs, chronic illness and even death. Every day, fathers, mothers and children in poor countries die because of infections that could have prevented by the wearing of shoes.
As the vast majority of the world’s poor must walk wherever they go, a simple pair of shoes is of enormous help in an already difficult existence. Any kind of footwear protects these unfortunate people against cuts, abrasions, snake bites and infections from being habitually barefoot.
Additionally, shoes allow extremely poor people to go the extra distance to where they can obtain food, water, shelter or medical help.
For many children, the path from a life of mere survival to a life of hope starts with you and a simple pair of shoes.
MADI is a reputable charity serving the extremely poor in the African nation of Uganda.
The group is not affiliated with any religious agency or larger charity.
MADI is run efficiently. There is no middle agency or unnecessary bureaucracy, a goal of the organization’s leader, Mr. Funwi Tita.
MADI stands out among other charities as being excellent at getting donor support to those who need it. What you donate goes directly to the hands (and feet) of children in dire need of those donations.
MADI volunteers have thousands of pairs of shoes and bundles of donated clothing and other donated items ready to be shipped to impoverished children in the poor African nation of Uganda right now.
MADI volunteers are sponsoring a fundraising campaign called “100 X 100.” The organization seeks 100 individuals or business leaders to donate $100 each, so that the vital work of this charity can continue.
MADI volunteers are sponsoring a second fundraising campaign called “1,000 X 10.” The organization seeks 1,000 individuals or business leaders to donate $10 each, so that the vital work of this charity can continue.
Please consider donating in person, by mail or via this Web site. Donations may be tax deductible, as MADI has filed for its official 501(C)(3) status with the United States Internal Revenue service.
